Battle of the Boyne Reaches Big Screen

A high-definition film adaptation of the historic Battle of the Boyne, produced by Dublin – based production outfit Agtel, has reached the big screen in the new Battle of the Boyne Visitors Centre, Oldbridge, County Meath.
The 14 minute film, written, produced and directed by Agtel’s Lee Cronin, will now be a permanent fixture in the visitors centre’s 50-seater auditorium, launched by former Taoiseach Bertie Ahern on May 6th 2008.
The film, which brings to life the significant battle, was produced for the Office of Public Works and was shot over four days in October 2007 on the original battle field in Oldbridge, Co. Meath and in Ballyjamesduff, Cavan. The film was shot on Sony HD750’s by Fiachra Judge, Michael O’Donovan and Karl Dillon. Historical re-enactment group Irish Arms took charge of costume and weapons for the film, with the Sony High-Def camera supplied by the Production Depot.
Team FX handled the special effects. The film was edited by Colin Campbell with grading and online handled by Egg Post Production. The 5.1 surround sound ‘battlescape’ was created by Egoboo.
The film will now screen daily in the 50 – seater auditorium at Battle of the Boyne Visitor Centre, Oldbridge, Co. Meath.
